In December 2014, we built two sets of steel & glass french doors for an office building in downtown San Francisco. The concept was to have the doors neatly frame a hallway and thereby guide visitors arriving from the elevator directly into the building’s interior.
24 glass panels, each held in place by a pair of steel frames, comprise the doors. The first pair slides on a long track; the second pair swings on pivot hinges.
The doors are TIG welded, ground and polished to remove most welding marks, and then finished with a black patina, lacquer and wax. The door handles are wrapped in leather.
